Meet Our Chickens

Thought you might want to meet the gang!  We have 17 chickens, 6 of  whom are roosters!  Wondering how they get along?  Well, sometimes they don't and we will have a few fights but nothing to the death, actually it's more if one bothers the other that they get into it.  Poor Keith probably is the one they pick on but they should be aware he is the biggest, but no one has told him that!  He will figure it out!

Pictured here is Fiona and Fern, we call them "The Twins".  They are banty Sultans, very sweet hens they like to be petted and are very friendly.

 Here we have my FAVORITE!!!!  Spike, he is a d'Uccle, Mille Fleur.  He is so beautiful!  Rust color body with white flecks and black tail feathers tipped in white.  He doesn't really get into fighting he is more of a lover. I taught him to crow on command and he does it every time I ask!  He crows when he see me and if  he hears me.  He's my baby. He is also a bantam.

Here in the middle of the picture is Keith, he is a Blue Andalusian rooster he is the biggest and the youngest of all the chickens. We got him when he was an less than 6 months old he was starting to attack his owner and she decided to give him to us.
He is my other baby he follows me around like a dog.  He did get aggressive with me so he got disciplined and has not attacked me for the last two months. (He better not if he knows what's good for him!)

 Chub-a-lub Jr.  He is also a banty he's a Light Brahma.  He got his name because we had a Silver Lace Wyandotte rooster that had passed and he looked a lot like this little guy so we gave him Chub's name.  This little guy also was taught to crow on command and he is also the "Trouble Maker" of the group. For is small size he likes to take on the big roosters!!  When will he learn that he is twice as small as the other roosters???  Probably NEVER!

This is Spottie, she is our oldest chicken!  She has been with us since the begining!  The old girl is 8 yrs old she is a squaker, she likes things her way.  She always wants to be the first one fed.  She had a twin named Dottie but she died a few years ago.  Spottie is a Silver Spangled Hamburg.

The big Red Leghorn rooster is Big Red, I don't really care for him much he likes to pick on Keith.  He is learning to crow on command and doing a great job too!  His crow is horrible but if he keeps working on it might get better!

The black hen pictured here is a Black Minorca her name is Mothra, because she looks moth eaten.  I didn't give her that name Dr. Andersen came up with that one.  She is very sweet, and keeps mostly to herself.
